Water Pipe Database

Background

As part of the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead and Copper Rule Revisions, all water utilities are now required to develop and maintain a database of the material of the pipe leading from the water main in the street to homes and businesses (known as a service line).

With the completion of a rigorous statistical review process in 2025, all service line materials have been identified and KWD is confident that there are no lead pipes in the system.

While there are no lead pipes in the system, it is important to continue to maintain this database as it serves as the foundation for utilities to act if lead levels are discovered above the drinking water limit. With that said, recent lead testing within the KWD distribution system indicates lead levels well below all drinking water limits.
